What's hard about Unit Support is waiting for Unit Coordinators to be ready to assign tasks. I think as Unit Support there is this barrier of how much they can contribute. I think Unit Support should help design lessons that the Unit Coordinator finds necessary. Also, sometimes the attendance situation is confusion. In the summer our unit support would switch so it was hard to keep track of which unit support had the attendance. I think once the school year starts this won't be as much of an issue.
What do you still wonder about or still need to learn more about to feel 100% comfortable being assigned and tackling the role of Unit Coordinator?
I think a hard part about being Unit Coordinator is the responsibility you get with designing a unit. The unit almost becomes your baby and you start becoming protective. I think Unit Coordinators should meet with their unit support more and feel comfortable dividing tasks. Not everything has to be done by the unit coordinator and I think that's something that should be indicated again.
Any thoughts/reflections/love/hate/etc. about the 3 periods system, would also be greatly appreciated.
Three period system - love it! Only thing is once students start getting a role on their BTW and don't want a break, I think we can skip the breaks.
LAST Q: I'd like to get your overall "snapshot" opinions and ideas about the Units you were a part of, the students, and the way things work around here at the ITA labs.
- Students: hard workers - Part of the reason they worked so hard was because the instsructors were really involved in what the student's work. We need to keep communication via e-mail and blog high. If the students know we are involved in their work, there will be more motivation for them.
- Many Uses Of Computer Camp - I loved it but always open to suggestions. Some things need to be changed for next year, but hopefully not much.
- Overall around ITA - A lot more organized!!!
