Today the flash lesson went by a lot better than the previous one. First hour was more interactive. It was most likely because of the class, but the students were asking questions and seemed engaged. When I first started off the ball lesson, the nesting was of course confusing to some people. I feel like there has to be a better way to explain this to the students. A lot of them did not understand WHY we were doing this. I think we need to stress this point out more or find a different approach. I probably should've labeled the movie clips better so that it was more clear. Some of the students such as Danny who was trying to get ahead got lost in the lesson. He animated the bouncing ball on the main timeline instead of movie clips and he didn't really care why. Throughout the entire time all the students wanted to learn more. They didn't even take their break untill 11 and most of the students continued to work in flash.
During the challenge session, the students were doing creative stuff. I think I got through to them that every movie clip needed to be on a separate layer. What the students did not understand was that everything you draw should be convereted into a symbol. A lot of the students got Tween 1, Twee 2, and etc. I think we need to tell them that this error was because they did not convert whatever they animated into a symbol. Then we need to show the students how to fix this problem. Overall, the challenge went well and the students seemed to enjoy Flash. Some of the students such as Williams, I showed him how to use filters to make certain effects. Filters is something we might want to add in the lesson plan.
