November 8, 2008 Afternoon

The afternoon started with barely any excitement. It didn't really help that the review topic was Word. Some of the students really weren't interested, but they all still did the activity. I tried showing the students useful stuff they could use for school especially in college, but no one really paid attention. Most of the students did pretty well on the permit test. Quite a few students passed. Then we went into work time.

Capital Candlelighters decided to redo the entire website after showing the group specific examples. With the checklists the students knew exactly what they needed to do. I assigned Luis and Jasmine specific tasks on the checklist. For the most part they were able to get about 70% of the stuff complete. Luis still dislikes working on the website, thus I made a deal with him. After the website was good to go, he could join the video groups which he was content about. Jasmine got some work done but not as much as she could've. Christina worked on developing the new website layout. For next session, I made another checklist with specific tasks for specific people. I did not include Kalia on that list because she has not been here the past couple of session. Jasmine really stood up as the project manager today and facebooked Kalia with a message that was direct and to the point that she needed to show up and help the group. Hopefully this will happen next session.

The Pregnancy Helpline group has everything clickable and spelled correctly. All of the pages have titles. Molly and Alexia really did not have much work to do. I told Molly to pick a color scheme but nothing was really was solidified. Jae has ideas for a design. For this group all they really need to work on is the design. The first thing I'm going to have them do is sit together pick on the color scheme and pick on the design.

The video group really didn't get much done. Nothing was filmed. Nothing was completely edited. Basically nothing on the checklist was complete. I really think we need to have either AJ or even Erica tell the group to take it sersiouly and work.

For next session, I'm going to e-mail all the groups with their checklist. I will remind them to bring props and come to ITA.
